I have a problem with orthotropic material modeling. The material geometry is
very simple. It is a cubic. After I define the material as type=Engineering
Constant, and fill in 9 constants (moduli in principal direction, shear
moduli, Poisson's ratio), I try to submit to Abaqus standard for analysis.
However, the following error generated:
***ERROR: THE ANISOTROPIC ELASTIC MATERIAL PROPERTIES SPECIFIED FOR ELEMENT 1
MUST BE DEFINED IN A LOCAL *ORIENTATION SYSTEM

这个错误只是因为在6。x版本的ABAQUS里面，如果要定义任何
anisotropic property你必须首先定义一个local orientation
system作为标定。只要加个*orientation system, name=xxx,加上data line
再在*solid section后面加个orientation=xxx就可以了。详情参阅manual。
ABAQUS 5.x就没有这个愚蠢要求。我越来越讨厌6.x，很多原来工作
得好好的input file就因为类似这样的很多愚蠢原因不能正常运行了。

the material direction fits to global direction. but the requirement of
orientation in solid section line is stupid, should be an option since
in composite definition, you can choose either use an orientation definition
for each layer or define an angle to the orientation define in the
solid section line.

我和我的很多同事都坚定地使用5.8。不用龌龊的6.2,6.3。
如果HKS胆敢取消5.8偶们就和他拼到底。

BTW, 各位当时是如何学ABAQUS的. 我遇到BUGS真觉得无从下手.

好好看manual吧。有限元这个东西就是经验的积累。你现在还处在
初级阶段，还和语法错误在做斗争，还没遇到收敛的trick呢。呵呵。
现在过了那么多年，我5.8基本上没有什么问题了，
但是我很多5.8的input file死活不能在6.3下工作连我和同事们都
找不出原因来，不光我，连寄给HKS的support group他们也想不通
怎么就不能运行的，连个出错信息都没有。而且我确信没有语法错误。
结论只能还是6.x太烂了。
