Department Overview
North American Credit Cards and Merchant Services (NACC&MS) organization was
formed in Fall 2011 and brings together the credit cards and merchant
services businesses in Canada and the US. TD’s credit card products are
distributed through the retail distribution network in the U.S. and Canada;
on a national basis in Canada leveraging direct response channels; and,
through hundreds of partnership programs with financial institutions,
retailers, non-profit organization, sports teams, and other third party
organizations. In addition, TD offers private label financing in the U.S.
and Canada. With the acquisition of the MBNA portfolio in 2011, TD’s credit
card business is now ranked among the largest in Canada and among the top
10 in North America based on loans outstanding. TD’s Merchant Services
business provides merchants in Canada and the U.S. with a full range of
payment processing services and solutions. TD provides merchant acquiring
solutions to some of the largest retailers in Canada.
Job Description
The incumbent will be a key member of a new team which dedicates to model
management and development across all credit card portfolios in US.
The primary accountability for this job is to serve models for the best
business practice and fulfill model governance requirements through 3 stages
- model development, model performance monitoring, and model diagnostic and
remediation. The incumbent will scientifically develop models that serve
valid business/risk management needs, ensure that all existing and new
models were/are appropriately implemented, monitor model performance over
time to control model risk and serve business, and diagnose/adjust models
when they are unable to deliver the expected performance for business/risk
management.
Job Requirements
• Communicate with strategy teams to understand the strategies and
business and then identify the areas where models can be built or improved
to serve strategies and business better.
• Develop new models (acquisition, ECM, etc.) from scratch.
• Create templates for model performance monitoring reports.
• Monitor and review model performance.
• Coordinate model validation with the corporate model validation team
for new and existing models.
• Diagnose and recalibrate/rebuild existing models.
• Respond to questions/requests from internal and external audits and
regulators.
• Present model result or findings/solutions to senior management.
• Coach, mentor, and lead future team members.
Qualifications
• Master or PhD degree in the quantitative fields such as Statistics,
Econometrics, and Mathematics.
• 5+ years of model development and validation experience in the
financial industry, preferably credit card.
• Hand-on experience through the whole life cycle of models, from
model development proposal to model implementation and then to model
remediation.
• Comprehensive model experience through the whole life cycle of loans
, including acquisition, portfolio, collection, and fraud, is preferred (if
the experience is only in one of these areas, then acquisition model
experience is preferred).
• Ability to develop and validate models independently.
• Advanced knowledge in statistics and professional experience in SAS
and SQL.
• Good knowledge in credit card business preferred.
• Willingness to interact with strategy and business operation teams.
• Strong communication skill.
