Wagner's gay-friendliness had impact on his offspring. Winifred Wagner, Wagner's daughter-in-law and one of the most vilified women in the 20th century for being unrepentant in her support for Nazism, was called "mother hen of gays" in her days of reign over Bayreuth. She personally protected a few gay artists, notably Max Lorenz and Herbert Janssen, from persecution by Nazi. These gay artists spoke in favor of her in the post-war trial, which helped her to win leniency from the court.
As for Maria Callas, she was not gay but a fag hag, i.e, a straight woman who likes to be around with gay men, very much like Grace in Will and Grace.

related to classical music. The rest are on writers, showbiz people, etc..
