Charles Dutoit is to take on the newly created role of chief conductor and
artistic adviser to the Philadelphia Orchestra from September 2008. The
appointment sees Dutoit take over on an interim basis from Christoph
Eschenbach, who has been music director in Philadelphia since 2003. The
search for Eschenbach’s permanent successor, meanwhile, will begin in
earnest.
