2004 ASSHTO
Sec. 5.8.3.3
norminal shear resistance,
Vn=0.25* f'c * bv *dv
我觉得应该是
Vn=0.25* sqrt(f'c) * bv *dv
但是我没有找到errata.
哪位熟悉ASSHTO的朋友指点一下. 谢谢.

The equation in the code is correct.
0.25* f'c * bv *dv is the upper limit for the section shear strenth.
if you like to use square root.
Vnmax should be close to 4* sqrt(f'c) * bv *dv, not 0.25* sqrt(f'c) * bv *dv

Code is correct. Please note unit of f'c is "ksi". It is different in ACI
where unit of "f'c" is "psi".

This question comes up when I compare it to ACI.
For ACI, the shear capacity of pure concrete is 2bd*sqrt(fc') with fc' in "
psi", which is consistent with AASHTO Eq 5.8.3.3-3.
For ACI, the maximum capacity of a concrete cross-section with reinforcement
is 8bd*sqrt(fc'), which is consistent with 0.25bd*sqrt(fc') instead of 0.
25bd*(fc') .

Again, you need use "Correct unit" in governing code. Do not mix AASHTO
with ACI. They are completely different code.

Good question.
In ACI or AASHTO LFD, max(Vs)=8bd*sqrt(fc')=0.25bd*sqrt(fc')
in AASHTO LRFD, max(Vc+Vs)=0.25bd*(fc')
This is a strange code update, and there is no explanation of this change.
