当年国内的老板听说我要到美国来读土木的博士，就说读土木毕业后找不到工作。
但我看大家不都过得挺好的吗？ |

后，有能力不足。。。都需要土木工程师诊断，提出解决方案。另外只要人口在增加，
经济在发展，就有需求增加。可能在一些高度发展又有局限的的地区，新的建设比较少
，看不见的工程很多。在一些热点地区，比如德州，土木大有可为，未来几十年都有做
不完的工程。

英雄无用武之地".
我门这些来美国学土木的，哪个是为了在这儿干什么大项目阿，还不是为了老婆，孩子
，车子，房子。。。。真正要参与到大工程中，还是要到中国。
哎，中国刚把三峡大坝建好，可一不留神，青藏铁路也修好了，那可是世界级的难题阿。
美国，说来说去也就一个胡弗大坝，前几天还在《变形金刚》里漏了漏脸。

补还有用到一些技术含量比较高的检测技术，很多技术还都是学校里面的教授的研究课
题，所以大伙儿不能紧盯传统的设计领域，还要放开眼界；
2，texas基本没有什么新的巨大的楼了。dallas以后可能会发展，但是现在看不到趋势
。houston发展已经很成熟，但是并不意味着没有机会。首先成熟的城市交通建设项目
多，还有就是开发城市付中心，机会也会很多。东北地区的老城市，以后很难说没有机
会。austin也有一些机会，无论交通还是楼房。san antonio不清楚，感觉是一个比较
穷的地方，有点像orlando。另外，houston有很多offshore platform和refinary的机
会，潜力巨大。
3，arizona和nevada的建设速度和力度都很快，机会很多，大伙儿应当注意。

more than 80 undergraduates on the Structural Anaylisis class every year.
The TA in our dept. really get exhausted for grading their homework because
there are so many students.
Civil Engr is still popular among Americans.
I have a lot of US friends who are studying in Civil engineers.
You know what , hot girls like Engineers, because wearing a helmet, holding
a blueprint in hand looks really cool, manly and sexy...

personal interest is really a big part. Even if they know EE , Finance,
lawyers...are really a golden field, there are still a lot of guys like
Civil Engr. A lot of guys worship these bridges, skyscrapers designers.
Boat, haha, only us, Chinese, cherish this so much. This is not a big deal
for many Americans.

able to buy a boat, 200k~300k, plus a house at the same time, in south of
course. those entry level lawyers, and entry-level workers in ib, cannot
earn too much also. if i worked as many hours as they do (80h? 120h?), i
wouldn't make less than they do either.

我们一个同事作forensic的，一听到有楼塌了，跨了的就两眼放光。在看ASCE
infrastructure report card, 就知道美国的infrastructure状况有多差了。

This field is good for research, not for practice. In industry, 看起来就是个
民工的干活，though we use high tech instrument and do a lot sophisicated
analysis.

accoustics检测refinary的破坏情况，钞票大大的。
另外，要看前景啊。
