。 | d********r 发帖数: 303 | 5 This just not work!
Previously, i greet to anyone i meet (especially girls, :>).
when I greet american or indian or other non-chinese people, they greet me
too, and smile back.
when I greet chinese, generally i do not get any response.
so now, I only greet nonchinese
it is very sad
but no choice

| d********r 发帖数: 303 | 6 Generally, I think oversea chinese are too conservative.
since I am a liberal,
don't feel very comfortable to talk with them
to be honest, indians are more liberal than chinese
among chinese, the people just come from china are more liberal and more
likely to share same idea with me.
I don't know why chinese peole get more conservative when they stay oversea
during years. This does not happen to me, I've been here almost five years,
but are more liberal than ever.
This is right. Should be polite and this is the way to communicate with
people. And chinese people generally are less tolerant. Most of them
discriminate against black and latino. this is BAD! | j*****t 发帖数: 24 | 8 Regarding to 礼貌问题, what a pity. Compare students from Korea, Japan and
even Taiwan, students from China have worst courtesy. I guess it is a result
of 10 year Culture Revolution and popularity of materialism in China. Nobody
pays attention to ethical or spiritual matters anymore.
Regarding to offering help,
I used to offer a lot of help to the new students and found out later they
either don't show appreciation to the help, i.e. thought they deserved all
these and took everything for granted, OR | a********e 发帖数: 12 | 9 It works in right environment---the environment where Chinese people feel
comfortable. I understand that Chinese people don't smile back when they just
meet you on the road (actually American people and Indian people not always
smile back), but when you smile at a Chinese people in a party, you have
better than 50% chance to get a smile back. That's the culture things, not
personality things.

good side of help will have a positive influence on people's behavior, which
is very "rewarding" to me. Seriously.
