My comment:
(a) Boston, Massachusetts bills itsself "Hub" (with a capital H), much like
China calling itself 中國, which foreigners take to mean "center of the
universe."
(b) Boston Globe as a practice refers to people by last name, after printing
their full name. So I suspect the reporter mistakes Ling as her last name.
(c) All Girls Allowed 女孩之声

(c) The report says she earned $380,000 in 2009, according to a court
document. She is a smart kid. Too bad China can not keep talents.
(d) I think Ms Chai is unwise. She is a "public figure" in the context of
defamation and First Amendment to the US Constitution. It is very difficult
for a public figure to win a defamation lawsuit. I know not a thing about
her defamation lawsuit against New York filmmakers. Despite teh filmmakers'
plea (because they could not afford lawyers), Ms Chai refused to back down.
She lost teh first round, in the state superior court. She appealed. When
state appeal court rendered judgment, it tends to hand it down with a
decision explaining its reasoning, which is always published and becomes
permanent. |
