China sacks thousands of police
China has fired more than 30,000 police for lacking proper qualifications, a
ccording to state media.
Nearly 11,000 others were removed for "sub-standard work", Xinhua news agenc
y said.
The dismissals took place during a four-month campaign, which Xinhua said wa
s prompted by President Hu Jintao's "alarm" at a damning report on China's p
ublic security services.
