Software Engineering Intern
An intern position is immediately available at a high tech company at
Schaumburg that delivers innovative IP-based cellular solution
software for 3G/4G network.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develops real time multi-threading software components in C/C++ using
network protocols to interface with 3G/4G architectures.
Develops middle-ware module to interface with Java, front end & SQL DB
or other modules.
Create and execute unit, integration, system and acceptance test plans
and scripts for software quality control.
Works closely with other team members and interact with users to
define system requirements and necessary modifications to deliver high
quality and reliable cellular network performance.
Provide technical and other leadership in working through issues with
other teams, and follow up issues to conclusion without supervision.
Requirements:
Hold or pursue MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related fields; PhD
preferred;
Proficiency in C/C++ or Jave and SQL;
Expertise in data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
Strong Analytical/Troubleshooting skills;
Fluency in Linux/Unix platform;
Background in telecommunication technology is a plus, any of following
aspects:
* Cellular network protocols (GSM, UMTS, CDMA, LTE), IETF RFC's;
* DNS, DHCP, SCTP/TCP/IP architecture, virtual circuits, routers and
multiplexing;
* VoIP protocols (including SIP, MGCP, RTP and SDP), Asterisk
Open-source VoIP platform;
* SS7, T1 trunks, PBX, switching and routing, Wireshark network
protocol analyzer;
Expertise with setting up and maintaining design tools is a plus.
(configuration management, source control, build management,
automation and unit test tool harness, IDE, issue tracking system,
collaboration system, etc.)
Internship is full-time during summer (2 or 3 months) and may be
renewed into semesters or extended to a full-time job position. | a***x

The funny part is people with any one skill list above can easily land a
decent job. For example,voip with 3 years, 85k-100k at chicago.
