Location: Houston TX, 77082
Job Summary:
· The technical service /development chemist will provide hands-on
laboratory support to solve various customer problems and generate
innovative technical solutions that support current business and generate
new business growth opportunities
Specific duties include:
· Assisting in the technical transfer of new technology/product and
technical service request for a Global Key Account
· Conducting physical property evaluations and performance tests as
required to support business in the Oilfield markets, (e.g. viscosity
measurements, interfacial measurement, solubilities, foaming, fluid loss,
corrosion, permeability and titration, etc.)
· Assisting in the building, installation, and maintenance of
specialized equipment designed for oilfield applications (e.g. tubing, ISCO
pumps, Swagelok fittings, accumulators, pressure vessels, relief devices,
vacuum pumps, etc.)
· Drafting procedures for running and maintaining equipment per
Client’s environmental and safety standards
· Generating information and preparing reports and presentations
for use internally and at customers
· May be required to present results of work in customer meetings
Knowledge and Experience / Education:
· Associates or BS in chemistry or related scientific field
required, bachelor’s degree preferred
· 5+ years of laboratory experience with associates degree or 2 +
years of laboratory experience with bachelor’s degree
· Having worked with an oil company, oilfield production company,
or an oilfield service company is preferred
· Solid working knowledge of laboratory techniques (i.e., rheology
measurements, demulsification, fluid loss, corrosion, friction reduction,
core flood testing, surface tension, crude handling, and foam testing)
· Safe working habits and follows good chemical hygiene practices
· Solid knowledge of products (surfactants, polymers, corrosion
inhibitors, chelating agents, lubricants and dispersants) used in Oilfield
applications and in the methodologies used to test and evaluate these
products, a focus on the Stimulation or Enhanced Oilfield Recovery segment
is preferred
· Skilled at using Microsoft Excel and Lab View is a plus
· Working knowledge of how to use Swagelok fittings is also a plus.
· Less than 5%, few days/year for conference, technical
presentation, or visit to customer
