Dragon Dance is a traditional form of celebration in China. Outside of China
, it has been recognized as a symbol of Chinese culture along with Lion
Dance. Our primary goal is to keep our heritage live here in the states. Our
dragon dance team has been to a few places to perform, such as Raleigh
International Festival and Chinese New Year events organized by CAFA and
TACAS. We even went to perform for a wedding. Our performances were very
well received. After performance, there were always people approaching us
and wanted to take pictures with us. We are very proud of ourselves
representing Chinese community and Chinese culture as well. Our secondary
goal is keep this activity as an physical exercise. We typically rehearse
about one hour per week or every other week. After running with the dragon
for a hour, you can get sweaty. We feel this is not only a fun activity with
friends, but also an activity that your time is not wasted because you
exercised
along the way.
Our dragon dance team has been in existance for about five years. We meet
about one hour on Sunday every other week. If we have performance coming up,
we may choose to meet once every week. Our typical schedule is from 5:00pm
to 6:00pm on Sunday. We ask every member to come to practice during
rehearsals. But if someone has a conflict with a family event or other
important events, we'll allow the person to skip the rehearsal without any
harassment. We use Champion Learning Acadamy as our rehearsal facility which
is located at 106 Pheasantwood Ct. Morrisville, NC 27560. | j*******e
