Take it easy. I was in a position like you 2 years ago.
I was the lowest paid employee in the department and my
contract can't last longer than 1 year. Applications to
all other schools are refused and I had no interest to
do Ph.d under my ex-supervisor.
I quit at 6 months mark. Spent a number of months just
to stick with my wife in USA, then went back to China
to work for another year.
My first author paper was accepted to an IEEE jounal 3 months after
all these refusions. I worked one year in
