I always encounter problem of low virtual memory on my desktop in company.
It is win2K OS, almost every morning, I need to restart my computer to speed
up some process, otherwise, it's very slow. Actually the memory is not bad,
1G. Does anybody know what's the problem?

don't know much about virtual memory.

1) Do you set the paging file size properly? You can see the website
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=308417#31 to get some idea.
2) Because of virus, or other programs such as spyware(I know spyware kind of
stuffs can lower the performance, but I'm not sure if it will affect vm).
And windows always needs restart after several days. Windows for the desktop
is not a robust OS.

发帖数: 1540 | 7 the basic concept of vritual memeory is to use hard disk as your memory when
your memory is all used. It is very slow due to the fact that hard disk is
accessed through the slow i/o channel. One common problem is virus and/or
memory leak. I guess it is virus.

发帖数: 44 | 8 Do you have 1G physical memeory or just set 1G virtual memory?
For the latter, you are recommended to add your physical memory to be
above 512M.
If the former is the case, probably you got a virus.
