I am somehow frustrated by this program. Honestly, to get in the program is
not a hard job, but the toughest part is how could you hold on till the
graduation. Considerable PHD students are wasting their time in the program.
They may have some other plans while don't contribute much to the research.
As we get the fellowship, they keep on getting the financial support while
doing nothing.

If you get no interest in research, then go to industry. I don't see any
point why you feel frustrated. Life is just a choice. |

you don't know how jealous they are that you have so much motivation..I am
the "relaxing" PhD student with fellowship last year..you don't know how
lonely that was..
Keep working hard!! I am motivating myself this semester too!!

我怎么觉得上了贼船就会被force to study hard啊？
即使赖个6年8年，怎么着你至少要混过qualify exam才行吧。
难道有不用qualify exam的b-school吗？
而且像我们学校第5年以后就没有funding了，虽然其他奖学金也是可以申请的，但是如
果混到那会，当教授工资那么高，学生奖学金那么低，谁都愿意加把劲早点毕业咯。
不知道你为什么会有那种concern。

they enter the program but huge differences when then gradaute in terms of
placements... whether or not working hard is a key determinent...
