c******s 发帖数: 10 | 1 I have a static IP (ISP:TW) and a web server.
recently i registered a domain name, can somebody provide the tech info about
map these two?
1. DNS setting -- domain company side
linking: mydomain.com <-> my IP address?
2. My server setting (unfortunately under a router).
or recommend some tech docs.. | h**h 发帖数: 132 | 2 It is easy to set DNS for step 1
yourdomain.com IN A 1.2.3.4
there is nothing to set on your server except apache virtual host
the only tricky thing is that if you try to visit your server from another
client on same subnet as your server, it may not respond

| c******s 发帖数: 10 | 3 that's what I did, but the nameserver hasn't been resolved yet. but it takes
over 2 days? already 2 days past.
I deleted the dns setting from the domain company, because I don't use the
delicated server from theirs. is it OK?

| g******d 发帖数: 157 | 4 It could take up to 7 days to refresh all DNS caches.
If you cannn't resolve the domain name, it only means your ISP's DNS hasn't
been refreshed. It is possible that people who use a different ISP have
already been able to see your website.
Most of mine domains are refreshed overnight, but one of them takes 3 days...

| c******s 发帖数: 10 | 5 mine still doesn't work.
I searched the whois database in opensrs.com, my IP is listed there. and the
IP surely works.
I contacted the company which I purchased the domain name, they won't provide
any help because I didn't use their server. but one of them told me to 'CHECK
MY DNS Setting', does this mean that I have to set my DNS for my server? -- it
is under a router!
