RESEARCH SPECIALIST, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to join
the highly active Histology Core Facility, providing technical support for
wide-ranging approaches being taken in cancer research and across the MIT
research community. Will perform routine histological techniques including
tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, cryotomy of animal tissue, and both
automated and manual staining methods; troubleshoot both instrumentation
and protocols and develop, implement, and evaluate new protocols; manage
some laboratory resources and train others to perform specific tasks; and
provide technical guidance to students and postdoctoral fellows in
conjunction with the facility's staff.
REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree (master's a plus) and at least five years
of histology technician experience. A background in immunohistochemistry is
essential. Must be HT-ASCP or HTL-ASCP certified or certification-eligible.
Research experience and supervisory or management experience highly
desirable. Basic computer skills required. Experience with laboratory data
management software beneficial. Must possess superior organizational and
technical skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and excellent
verbal and written communication skills. Seek individual who exhibits

working in a team-oriented environment, and possess the flexibility
