” I hear you saying. “It trains you to think.” That’s true, or partly
true, which is good because it’s just the sort of thing people tell
themselves to rationalize having wasted 7 years obtaining a Ph.D. If you
believe that learning to think is the main thing you spent those 7 years
doing, you’re blocking out some insidious memories—of repeated attempts to
crystallize proteins, debugging code, washing glassware, or detailing your
PI’s Audi—for insane hours and low pay. Some of that work trained you to
think like a scientist, but some of it just exploited your abundant time and

发帖数: 15191 | 2 别的领域不知道，生物这行最根本的问题是PI制。本来科研尤其是基础科研，单个个人
就可以做，最多一个教授带两个非Ph.D的助手就可以了。其他都可以service搞定。少
数大项目可以另拨款。实行PI制，不但导致有很多实验室规模不受控制和大牛PI基本不
出idea也不做具体工作而完全成了职业掮客和经理人而浪费大量资源，更导致学术界成
为血汗工厂而象富士康一样自然而然要招更多人。另外导致学校彻底成为赢利机构，导
致学校剥削PI，PI压榨千老和学生的农奴制。
我认为应该象公司一样，增加依靠hard money 的固定岗位，而不是给PI大量的soft
money自由支配。政府机构给学校的钱，只给少量overhead。

低薪干，高薪干，都是干。能去高薪干，为什么还在低薪位子浪费时间？
生物人转别的其实很容易，不用再修学位，不用考证，
只需几个月，就找到高薪工作，比博后高一倍，为甚么不转？
--希望这个帖子能够激励所有转专业的人，不要迷茫，不要气馁，像她们这样的纯文科
女都找到了工作，我们相信每一个人都能找到很好的数据工作的！！ | k****u

不停的有人前仆后继，或许很多人都觉得自己与众不同，不会重复身边某些人的悲剧，
但是所有人都与众不同的结果是所有人都变成一个熊样了。
再者，对很多人来说，即使做PhD的苦力，仍然比其他选择好，或者自认为比其他选择
好（包括信息不全的），总不能剥夺别人选择的权利
