发帖数: 71 | 1 Several critical errors have been found in our research article (IL-6
secreted by cancer-associated fibroblasts induces tamoxifen resistance in
luminal breast cancer, Oncogene, 9 June 2014; doi: 10.1038/onc.2014.158),
which led to an in-depth investigation by School of Medicine Shanghai
Jiaotong University (SJTUSM). The SJTUSM investigation committee has
categorized some of the errors as misconduct. Additional errors identified
by the authors that are not discussed in SJTUSM's report are listed below.
We apologize for the mistakes included in Oncogene article. These multiple
errors impair the credibility of the study as a whole and we are unable to
say without doubt whether the [colony formation in MCF7 cells] phenomenon is
real. Ongoing studies are investigating this phenomenon afresh, but given
the extensive nature of the errors currently found, we consider it
appropriate to retract this paper.
Finally, although editors and referees could not have detected the fatal
faults in this work, the episode has further highlighted flaws in future and
in the procedures of institutions that publish with us. As for others -
research funders, research practitioners, institutions and journals — need
to put quality assurance and laboratory professionalism ever higher on the
agendas, to ensure that the money entrusted by governments is not squandered
, and that citizens' trust in science is not betrayed. |
