Qualifications:
•A Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, or related field with a
minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience is required.
• A focus in the area of immunology and/or cell therapy is desired.
Previous Post-Doc experience is not required. Cell analysis skill sets such
as flow cytometry and microscopy are required. Experience with metabolomics
is preferred.
•General molecular biology and laboratory skills such as ELISA,
immunoblotting, UV-VIS spectrophotometry, and basic chemistry (i.e. buffer
preparation and pH adjustment) will also be required.
•Experience in handling biological specimens, particularly human
clinical samples is desirable; experience with mammalian cell culture is
required. Experience with cell separation/isolation from blood is preferred.
•Experience with stem cell isolation and culturing is strongly
preferred. Knowledge of procedures for blood borne pathogen safety is
necessary and will be provided.
•Must be technically proficient with MS OFFICE and knowledge of
statistical analysis is desired.
Responsibilities:
•Incumbent performs research in areas of functional cell analysis such
as cell growth, metabolic activity, and cell signaling. He/she will be
expected to apply existing knowledge of cell-based assays for the purpose of
developing new diagnostic technologies with a focus on Vacutainer brand
specimen collection and preservation devices.
•He/she will also be expected to acquire proficiency in the areas of
hematology, coagulation, diagnostic chemistry, and molecular diagnostics. He
/she reports to the Diagnostics R&D team and provides laboratory support for
cross-functional technology development goals.
•Incumbent performs technology feasibility assessments for new
technology concepts (medical diagnostic equipment and procedures) being
invented/evaluated by product development scientists.
•Responsibilities include defining and executing experiments including
diagnostic tests and functional cell analysis to support research driven
technology development decisions.
•He/she will be expected to collaborate with other laboratory
associates and senior scientists in assessing technology feasibility.
• Collaboration includes proposing and executing experiments, making
detailed observations of experimental results, analyzing data, and
interpreting results to determine adequacy of new methods and technologies
for potential new products.
•Prepare verbal and written technical reports, summaries and
quantitative analyses of assigned research projects. Tabulate and analyze
data using statistical and other software programs, including but not
limited to Microsoft Excel.
•Candidate will be expected to prepare protocols for complex
experiments and to investigate new technology concepts using a variety of
experimental approaches including Client application of automated clinical
assays and newly developed cell-based assays, potentially with Client
instrumentation.
•Work with complex systems where analysis of situations or data
requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple simultaneous factors (including
unproven and unoptimized instruments, chemistries, and SOPs) and as yet
undefined variables due to the Client nature of technology development.
•Develop methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for feasibility
studies independently.
•Incumbent will assist in performing research on existing Vacutainer
specimen collection products as required to develop a full scientific
understanding of product performance with regards to sample quality and
specimen integrity as well as compatibility with current and Client cell-
based applications.
•Assists with the design and execution of experiments towards
understanding and improving the biochemical robustness of Client Vacutainer
specimen collection products.
