想请教同修们是如何处理这个问题的。平时做实验报告，用ppt很快很方便，但发文章
的时候又要改用photoshop，很多图片要重做。大家有什么好的经验？ |

My experience is, if eventually you are going to learn a tool, why not go
directly to these two ultimate tools? Don't waste time on others. Save every
figure in .psd file, and subsequently place in illustrator and save as .eps
file. It will be very
easy to assemble these files into one .eps file later.

What I find hard is the fact that I run many experiments, then organize my
data day to day. Probably less than 10% of the data will be used for
publication. I also have to put the data together for all kinds of
presentations: lab meeting, group meeting and conference meeting. PPT
definitely helps a lot for this part of my work.
Another issue is that It's hard to put my data together using photoshop,
especially if I need to label my western blots or microscopic pictures. If
only <10% of the work will end up in publication, I feel like a lot of waste
of time.
I bet many of you also having this issue. How to better handle this? |

about handling figures when writing manuscript; However, in the paragraph,
you are also asking for handling those for meetings/daily lab reports.
Let me share with you something I learned from my adviser. Save your figures
in whatever format you can with enough resolutions (like .tiff), you could
label the figures in your lab notebook.
When you feel you could have a figure/subfigure for publication, slow down,
put everything into photoshop (.psd) and further into illustrator (.eps)
with a description (legend, materials and methods, etc). And this is a
publishable unit (PU). When you have multiple PUs that you feel they
together could tell a story, simply assemble them together with the order
you like, then you have your first rough draft done.

One thing I learned is that putting data electronically is helpful because
you can search for them automatically using key words. |

Cover也做啊....不过我没有做过书的cover,我只做过校友会的cover,试剂宣传单什么
的。
UC可以通过校内系统pay. 非UC的话，私人帮你画画？（不过大部分老板不愿意花钱在
绘图上）如果只是western label下，整理
显微镜图片，整理线状图的话，不用多少钱的。如果要发大文章，综述，要画机理图，
pathway什么的，几十元到几百不等。如果需要画人体器官，细胞，不是基本图形可以
搞定的东西的话，会贵些。如果是grant的图，会相对便宜，因为没有copy right的问
题。如果是abstract的图，也会便宜，因为那些图很小。具体的话，站内信说吧~~
