month (or even younger)female,
after 2 weeks or so, the female died.
It could be because of the disease phenotype, but I am just concerned
could it be that the female is too young,the male somehow is too aggressive?
My boss had this concern too, but neither of us are mice
experts.

males > 8 weeks
females > 6 weeks or 8 weeks
you need to contact ACUC for advice

Normally, I used >6 weeks old female.
How ofter the young female died? I don't think using young female for
crossing will kill them...

发帖数: 6830 | 8 一般female老鼠6个星期就可以怀孕了，早了她们也不性成熟，放在一起也没用。
vaginal opening在老鼠里面是一个月左右，有的早几天有的晚几天。
但是把年轻的母老鼠跟公老鼠放在一起应该是没问题的，因为有的paper做fertility的
，为了确定老鼠性成熟的时间，就把年轻的老鼠跟确定fertile的公老鼠放到一起，然
后看小老鼠的birth date来推算母老鼠的初次怀孕日期。
我自己曾经遇到过5个星期的母老鼠怀孕的，因为我偷懒晚分笼了几天。
一个6个星期的公老鼠和一个4个星期的母老鼠放在一起，基本不会是母老鼠死的原因。
另外breeding用一只母老鼠效率太低，不知道你们是breeding来干嘛，我的
maintenance都至少是2公四母（当然是分两笼）。做实验的老鼠都是10来只母的同时
breeding。 |
