Abstract
The surface of cellulose displays hydroxyl groups can be reacted to a broad
range of molecules adding unique properties to cellulose surfaces. This
opens for possible applications for cellulose nanoparticles in biomedicine,
specifically in areas that involve targeted delivery and tracking studies.
Here we present preliminary data on biocompatibility of cellulose
nanoparticles, which suggests a potential for use of cellulose nanoparticles
in biomedical applications like drug delivery, and specifically, tissue
repair.
