it covers lens and frame, but there is a limit, not sure
how much. around $100?

As a postdoc, your benefits come from two different sources. Please see the
attached. You are covered for dental, vision and short-term disability and
additional life insurance but it is through Garnett-Powers & Associates, not
through UC.
You still have UC Mid-Level benefits but the Postdoc Supplemental
Benefit Plan gives you the additional insurance that you were not
eligible for as a Research Assistant under the UC Mid-Level benefit
plan. Please go to the Garnett-Pow

they will check your name, if you are in the network you are fine.
