Gail McGovern, president and CEO of the American Red Cross, told a news
conference at the Church’s Welfare Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, on
Wednesday, 20 June 2012, that the new agreement includes greater
coordination with the Church in sponsoring blood drives.

Immunization Partner, GAVI
Salt Lake City —
Good health for the children of the world is a priority of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church has participated in an
immunization program for many years and this week the Global Alliance for
Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) expressed gratitude to the worldwide faith
for its $1.5 million donation. The Church also committed its network of
thousands of volunteers in more than 100 countries to help facilitate
vaccinations. In the past decade Latter-day Saint volunteers have worked
more than 750,000 hours to immunize children around the world.
