the one who commit the crime, you always know you did it. But most of the
time, you, as a rational person, tend to escape from legal sanction. And by
law, you are not required to incriminate yourself either.
What is at issue is how the government proves you committed the crime. Without
the doctrine, people who didn't really do anything wrong can be wronged.
The whole thing is about whether the society knows it or not.
