"He has agreed to showcase himself further for us at Himes (Yankees' minor-
league complex). Have not signed him," Yankees GM Brian Cashman said in a
text to The Post after a report on Wednesday morning indicated he was back
with the team.
Wang, who pitched for Chinese Taipei in the World Baseball Classic, is
expected to throw a bullpen session for the Yankees on Wednesday. Wang’s
agent, Alan Chang, said he is in contact with several teams and there’s no
timetable for him to sign.
Wang was the Yankees’ No. 1 starter until he suffered a foot injury in 2008
. After struggling mightily at the start of the 2009 season, Wang missed the
next season and a half with a torn capsule in his shoulder.
Wang, 32, pitched for the Nationals organization the past two seasons and
had a 6.68 ERA over 10 appearances (five starts) last season.
