Field joins Ford from Apple, where he served as VP, Special Projects. Before
that, he was senior vice president, Engineering, at Tesla. His appointment
to Ford is effective today, and he reports to Ford President and CEO Jim
Farley.
Field will lead Ford’s Embedded Software and Hardware organization
currently consisting of Vehicle Controls, Enterprise Connectivity, Features,
Integration & Validation, Architecture & Platform, Driver Assistance

发帖数: 1491 | 2 DETROIT – Ford Motor said Tuesday it hired former Tesla and Apple executive
Doug Field to lead its emerging technology efforts, a key focus for the
automaker under its new Ford+ turnaround plan.
Field — who led development of Tesla’s Model 3 —most recently served as
vice president of special projects at Apple, which reportedly included the
tech giant’s Titan car project.
The hire is a major addition for Ford and a big hit to Apple and its secret
car project, which the company has yet to confirm exists.
Field will work closely with Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s chief product platform
and operations officer, and oversee the company’s unit for embedded
software and hardware.
Ford is likely “very interested in gaining his insights into how to become
more like a tech company”, said Gartner analyst Mike Ramsey. |
