m****a 发帖数: 2593 | 1 saw this info posted up on BAT auctions and since we don't really have a
Sequoia Wiki, thought i'd share as i found this to be useful:
If you are cross shopping 200 Series Land Cruisers and Sequoia’s they are
apples to oranges. The primary (mechanical) differences between the two are
the 4wd system, suspension and seating configurations.
4wd: 200 Series LCs use a full time 4wd System with 4Lo and center diff lock
. No 2wd option. For traction the LC uses A-TRAC and CRAWL control, both are
electronic traction aids that use the abs system. There’s no mechanical
locking front or rear diff.
The 2nd Gen Sequoia borrows it’s 4wd System from the Tundra. 2wd Hi, 4wd HI
and 4wd Lo with Center diff lock. Traction aid comes from the same A-TRAC
system the LC uses. No CRAWL control or mechanical locking diff option
offered on the Tundra/Sequoia
Suspension: LC uses a solid rear axle with link suspension and coil springs
and up front is a independent coilover suspension. Front suspension is
unique to the LC and is shorter travel than the Tundra/Sequoia. Common
upgrade for a 200 series owner is to swap to Tundra/Sequoia front suspension
for longer travel.
2nd Gen Sequoia again borrows it’s front suspension from the Tundra, which
is a coilover set up. The rear of the Sequoia is where things are much
different. Sequoia uses a unique Independent Rear Suspension (IRS).
Seating: Why did I include seating? Because in the real world we aren’t
crossing rivers and ascending mtns on the way to drop the kids off at school
. We have 3 kids so to us seating arrangement is a big deal. In the 200 you
only have one option, standard bench seat second row. To access the third
row one of the bench seats has to fold and tumble or the child enters
through the cargo area. The 2nd Gen Sequoia offers 2seating arrangements;
standard 2nd row bench or optional captains chairs with a pass through…aka
mini van set up. To us this was huge. This meant the older two kids could
easily access the 3rd row on their own without that need to fold and tumble
a seat.
Towing: 200 series towing capacity is limited to 8500lbs whereas the Sequoia
is rated at 10,000lbs.
Diffs: LC, Sequoia and Tundra all share the same 9” front diff but the LC
uses a smaller 9.5” ring gear rear diff with 3.90 gearing whereas the
Sequoia uses a unique 10” ring gear in the IRS unit and shares deeper 4.30
gearing from the Tundra. One could make the argument that the Sequoia is
more robust than the 200 Series LC but I’ll let you be the judge of that | m****a 发帖数: 2593 | 2 So which part makes a Land Cruiser worth another twenty grand?
Made in Japan so the quality work is there, crawl control and locking center
diff, as mentioned...IRS. Stronger steel from the A,B,C pillars. 360
cameras with front viewing one so you can see where you’re going when off-
roading. I want one but yea the price is crazy, I can’t afford a new one
but I might buy a used 2013-2015 model although I like the look of the 2016+
models and new interior layout, except I don’t like two screens behind the
front seats, I prefer just one from the roof. | m****a 发帖数: 2593 | | m****a 发帖数: 2593 | 4 Value is a funny thing. It means different things to different people. The
sticker on my 1997 80 series was $53k. I still love the 80 platform and
think it is an amazing truck. Mine took me through 17 countries and 150k
miles without issue but I think the first owner overpaid for it. I’m glad
they did so I could pick it up 7 years later for significantly less. My 100
series was $64k new. Is it the best used overland value out there? Yes.
Was it originally worth $64k? Probably. Again thankful to the original buyer
. Here is what I keep coming back to when it comes to the 200 series. I
think the truck is worth more than the $80k price tag. The materials and
build quality are that of a luxury car and the soul is all Land Cruiser. It
is the clear evolution of the US available Land Cruiser. Reliability,
durability and performance have all been improved. It can handle all the
abuse you want to throw at it then run air conditioning through your seat on
the way home. I’m on pace to hit 50k in my first year of ownership. I
keep thinking one day I’ll find that one thing that I can point to and say
‘yep, not a Land Cruiser.’ I’m guessing it will happen somewhere around
400k miles. For this long time owner the 200 is the best Land Cruiser yet.
Now if they could just make it look like an FJ60… | m****a 发帖数: 2593 | 5 All Land Cruisers are built around the concept of a 25 year service life and
that means more expensive and durable components. For example, the
windshield is 2mm thicker than standard Toyota and the entire exhaust is
stainless steel and double thick for corrosion protection and no warping/
cracking when you dunk it in water hot.
-----------------------
You have to remember that the main customer for Land Cruisers isn’t fat
americans like myself, but it’s for mining corporations, the UN, Saudis
crossing deserts and “bush taxi” operators. It’s sort of a commercial
vehicle dressed up.
The 4runner is and has been for 3 generations, based on the light duty Land
Cruiser available in other markets known as the “Prado” (J90,120,150) and
one would assume that if the targets for that vehicle aren’t exactly the
same as the larger Cruisers (J60, J70, J80, J100, J200) then they are close.
As for the Tacoma, it’s an interesting vehicle as it’s designed
exclusively for the North American market so it doesn’t have to shoulder
the weight of commercial or high use duties...that being said they have
proven themselves extremely durable and reliable and should be considered
safe bets even with relatively high miles (all things being equal).
The one main difference between a Tacoma and the others is that because it’
s designed for North American tastes its been deliberately toned down in
strength to meet ride quality expectations and price point, meaning that its
payload is poor for its size. Its still plenty for most people, its just
that the Global market small truck, the Hilux, is actually a “1 tonne”
truck with heavier components to match, given that other markets don’t have
the monster trucks we have here. | m****a 发帖数: 2593 | | m****a 发帖数: 2593 | 7 三大的卡车质量还是 GM 〉 RAM 》 ford,想不到 |
