首先,咱比较一下,对于同一种前驱车Civic Si,雪胎和四季胎在冰雪路面上的差别。
下面,是Edmund的两个测试:
“It takes 11.7 seconds for our Civic Si to accelerate to 40 mph on snow
tires, and 14.5 seconds to get there on all-season rubber — nearly 3
seconds and 24 percent slower..”
“And that brings us to our next test: full stops with ABS engaged. Here
again the snow tires dominate, stopping from 40 mph in 156 feet, some 28
feet shorter than the all-season tires' 184-foot performance. ”
显见,对于前驱车来说,雪胎在加速和刹车时表现都要好,这点没有问题。
但现在,换成全驱四季胎,效果会如何呢?Edmund没有这个实验。不过,我们无脑也可
以猜到,在刹车方面,当然还是雪胎赢很多。因为全驱的优势在驱动,不在刹车。
真正的争议出现在驱动这个问题上了。四季胎抓地力虽然弱些,但四驱的驱动轮数目比
前驱多一倍,用力点分布范围大很多,这显然会弥补单轮抓地力弱的问题。所以,在驱
动这一块,全驱有优点。为何呢?其实很简单,开车时基本都是前轮先被困住了,如果
冰雪或泥坑够厚,雪胎也抓不住地,这时前驱车就只能趴卧了。但全驱车不同,其两个
后轮往往可以把车拉回来,或推过去。有经验的司机,常可以通过四驱车反复前进后退
和变线的方法,摆脱困境。如果只是前驱车,就困难得多了。这一点和越野的经验是一
致的。
好啦,既然前驱雪胎在刹车上占优,全驱四季胎在驱动上占优,那整体上那种组合占优
。根据我在美东北部的经验,全驱四季胎整体上占优势。主要两个原因:
1) 全驱四季胎刹车距离远的问题,可以通过减慢车速而有效克服。一到冰雪天,
我们这边所有车都龟速前进,大家都是四季胎,慢点开就是了。事实上,你想开快都难
。千万别以为你有AWD+雪胎,你就牛。如果雪真得很厚,一样死路上。正确的方法是:
大家都先等铲雪车铲过了再上路。
2) 如果用雪胎,一年换两次胎实在太麻烦了。想想,很多人净车出去换个油都嫌
烦。你让他把四个脏兮兮的胎放进车里,然后拉到轮胎店等各把小时换掉,然后再把换
下的四个脏兮兮的胎拉回来,找一大块地方存着,现实吗?
所以,除非你对安全有特别考虑,全驱四季胎+慢行,是在冰雪天安全又省心的最优方
案。

前驱雪胎在厚雪里不打滑也有驱动力,不会说抓不到地就开不了。
全驱四季胎前后轮都打滑的话一样开不动。

别想当然了,打滑的话你8驱也没用
你的想法都是建立在不打滑基础上的,不打滑,四驱比fwd驱动能力强就算是sb都知道
但是遇到打滑路面,四驱加上四季胎绝对被fwd 雪胎完爆

多少人会在车库里放四个雪胎,一放就是大半年,还得把近两百磅的轮胎扛到修车铺,

雪胎不方便,如果家里三台车就12个雪胎,每年换两次,车库里要总有12个轮子,如果用一
套轮毂,虽然省了些钱但工作量巨大。所以雪胎太不现实了。

再说,AWD帮你四季脱困,两驱车加雪胎只有冬季你换上雪胎后遇到路面打滑才可有用。
而且在沙滩上AWD或4wd是唯一出路。所以4wd或AWD比FWD+雪胎用处大太多。

几年前我住芝加哥的时候就是这么干的,雪胎在另外一套轮子上,
每年自己换。换下来的轮子冲干净拿到地下室去。跟我一起换的人还是颇有几个的。
就算换的慢一个小时也够了,一年两个小时
还要叽歪? 索男们弱到连轮子都搬不动?
路上碰上轮胎破了是不是还要请洋妞帮着
换备胎?

路上换轮胎其实很危险的。地需要又平又硬,随车的Jack才能用。而且周边还不能有很
多车跑来跑去,特别是晚上,否则会被撞上。
我在家车库里换过多次轮胎,但在外面,我都叫拖车的人换。

这有什么问题?轮胎放车库正好。啥叫把轮胎扛到车铺? 车是干什么用的。

你的车是什么车?AWD? 如果没有AWD那也只能雪胎了吧,没别的办法啊。另外你的车有测
胎压显示吗?这个怎么解决?再有就是家里几辆车?都有雪胎而且都有2只备胎吗?
万一发生车祸,车子报废,轮胎都扔了吗?
这和买辆AWD那个选择好?

我的意见和经验刚好相反
我认为雪胎+前驱更好一些

我在北方开车多年,我可以肯定地说,只说安全性,同一车型,四驱四季胎和前驱四季
胎差不多。
如果只是为了安全性,宁可买安全性好的前驱车,𣎴要选有四驱但悬挂或碰撞
测试较差的车。
四驱通过性好。如果需要,在雪上加速爽。这些是优点。

I have been using snow tires for couple of years.
One FWD convertible +2 snow tires. Secondary car, daily commute and casual
summer drive, yearly mileage less than 5K.
One AWD crossover + 4 snow tires + 4 season tires. Primary car, daily
commute and long distance, yearly mileage more than 15K.
Snow tire is very noisy, especially on concrete road, first time hear that
noise, I thought there was a jet or something above me flying really low.
But the safety it brings is amazing.
There was a big slope (not very steep) around my home, and all way stop sign
. AWD with 4 season tires never able to stop on that stop sign whenever
there is snow. I tried using the slowest possible speed to approach that
stop sign, just to test it out, but still ended up in the middle of the
junction. After snow tires are on, no matter how aggressive I drive, the
winter ABS kicked in about 3 times.
I could easily drive 65 miles per hour for whole 400 miles when it is
snowing, and all other cars are driving around 30 mph. Car shows very good
handling. Have to admit, passing 18 wheeler is still scary.
Like a bro commented above, it takes no longer than 1 hour to change 4 tires
. Twice a year, and winter long of peace of mind and confidence to drive,
totally worth the money and effort.
BTW, since have to buy rims anyway, just get a smaller rims, a good brand
tire goes as cheap as 90 bucks; with the original big rim, cheapest tire can
found is about 3 times the money.

I learned about importance of snow tires hard way.
I was driving my FWD with 4 season tires on a snowy night, about 55MPH.
Just like all other cars, not too fast, and also not too conservative.
Suddenly, it lost grip and start spinning. 720 degree, all happened in a
flash and I let go the wheel and pedals, there was not anything I can do.
I looked at my wife, she was looking at me. All I was thinking was, it might
be the last sight of each other.
Lucky enough, there was no cars around and I got away with a minor crack on
rear bumper.
Drove to Sears Auto first thing the next morning to put on snow tires.
