Thank you for contacting Chimicles & Tikellis about the oil consumption
issues you have been having with your Toyota or Scion vehicle. On March 31,
2014, we filed a class action complaint in the Northern District of
California on behalf of consumers who purchased or leased a Scion or Toyota
vehicle with Toyota’s 2AZ-FE engine (the “Class Vehicles”). The
complaint alleges that Toyota knew about the oil consumption defect while
all or nearly all of the Class Vehicles were still under warranty but did
not disclose the existence of the defect directly to any affected consumers.
If you have not already done so, we recommend that you take your Class
Vehicle to an authorized Toyota dealership to have the defect diagnosed and
documented. The dealership may ask you to perform an oil consumption test
where the dealership will fill your vehicle up with oil and have you return
at various mileages to measure the oil consumption.
At this stage, you do not need to take any affirmative steps to be included
in the case. At a later time, the Judge must determine whether to certify
the case as a class action. If the Judge certifies a class or multiple
classes, you will be notified at that time if you are included. By
