school here and her daughter were killed in a crash made worse when a
second vehicle hit their SUV afterward.
Tricia R. Martin, 42, of Camden, Del., died late Friday or early Saturday
after the 10:40 p.m. ET accident near Frederica, Del., less than 10 miles
from her home. Her daughter, Taryn, 10, died early Sunday of her injuries.
Martin's husband, John Martin, was a Navy Reservist who spent a year
overseas.
"There's going to be a lot of crying and not a lot of working," said Laura
Becton, 12, a seventh-grader at Milford Central Academy where Martin started
12 years ago as a math teacher and rose through the ranks to become
principal. Laura said she cried Saturday after learning of Martin's death.
"This is my first year here and this is my first year with her," Laura said.
"I thought I would have more time with her."
Milford Central Academy has more than 1,000 students in sixth, seventh and
eighth grades.

Tricia Martin was driving a 2009 Acrua MDX Suv westbound when her car
crossed over the eastbound lanes and veered off a rural road about 70 miles
south of Wilmington into a ditch, hitting a telephone box and fence, said
Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of Delaware State Police. The Acura then struck an
embankment that caused it to flip on its side back onto the road facing
west in the eastbound lane.
While Tricia Martin was still inside the vehicle, her daughter got out and
tried to ask for help from a passing vehicle that had stopped in the roadway
, Fournier said. But then an eastbound 2005 GMC Yukon SUV hit the overturned
Acura.
The impact pushed the Acura into the ditch again, flipping it upright,
ejecting Martin and throwing her onto the road, Fournier said. One of the
two vehicles hit Taryn, tossing her onto the grass on the south side of the
road.
The driver of the second vehicle, Richard B. Triola, 49, of Magnolia, Del.,
also was taken to a hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.
"There are still a lot of heavy hearts in there," said Marvin Schelhouse,
president of the Milford School Board. He gathered school staff Sunday to
prepare for the first day of school without Tricia Martin, who had been
principal for three years. "It's going to be very tough between now and the
day of the funeral."
Counselors are being made available at Milford Central and Milford High
School, said Phyllis Kohel, superintendent of Milford School District. And
Delaware victims' services officials attended Sunday's faculty meeting.
"Tricia was just an outstanding individual," Schelhouse said. "She was
dedicated to this district and the children. (It's) hard to find people like
Tricia Martin. They don't come along all the time." | M*********n 发帖数: 4839 | | l*********1 发帖数: 720 | | l*******g 发帖数: 27064 | 4 虽然不是最安全的,但是在日车里也是top了
