Just saw and test drove the CLA 250 FINALLY
Just test dove the CLA 250 at my neighborhood dealership. They are putting a
$2991 markup on the car right now! They said preorders are not getting
charged the markup so that's kinda cool i guess.
Here's some pictures (non sports package) and my thoughts on the car. Got
the keys to a base CLA and just played around with it. The car's exterior is
beautiful! The mountain gray is a great color. Also Jupiter Red was amazing
too. When I first got into it, i felt a little disappointed. It just did
not seem like a luxury car to me. Granted it is only a $31k car, but I was
expecting a more luxurious feel. The trim looks good and well styled, but
honestly feels cheap to me. The area where usually the gear shifter is looks
plasticy and empty. When i press on the stereo console area or the buttons
on top where the light buttons are they feel cheap and creak as i press down
on the plastic. The door lock thing on the door is made of some plastic and
has a little notch (not smooth). Just seems cheap to me. Maybe I was
expecting too much. I actually then looked in at a C250 and basically it has
same plasticy materials in there.
As others said front seat is comfy and roomy. I was a little thrown by the
big pillar making right turns and felt a little unsafe. The rear view is
also pretty small. I took a pic so others can see. The back seats are strip
down and an afterthought. Sitting up straight, my head touches the headliner
(5'9"), but I don't really sit like that. Sitting my normal way slouching,
I was fairly comfortable. There is nothing in the backseat other then seat
belts and a 12v plugin. With the small windows when I was leaning back in
the backseats, I felt a little claustrophobic because I can't look out the
window unless i lean forward. The view is blocked by the slope. I understand
the space is a compromise for the looks, so i'm ok with it.
I first road as a passenger in the backseat and was not feeling it at all.
The couple test driving the car did not really like it either. Later, I test
drove a red cla with premium package and pano and it was actually pretty
fun. I thought it was fast enough and I felt it drove well. Gear shifting
was fine, just have to get use to the placement. I'm not familiar with
backup cams too much, but I felt it was laggy when switching to reverse.
All in all I wished I loved it, but I kinda have mixed feelings. I feel like
the drive was good and the exterior definitely looks good, but luxury is
lacking. Is250 luxury blows the merc out the water imo. | h**********r

IS250 and switched to BMW finally. Just how bad is this CLA?
