发帖数: 131 | 1 I got engine light on with this error code. I went to several mechanics.
They all said Cat. needs to be replaced.
That is alright. I changed both upstream and downstrem Cat. plus upstream O2
sensor ( I bought the parts myself, saved a couple of hundred but still
spent close to one thousand). Guess what, the code came back.
I started to learn car basics, got to know that the code P420 just tells the
exhaust is off limit, it can be due to anything in intake air, gas/air mix
and so on. When I try to clean throttle body, I noticed the MAF boot is
broken with air leaking. I bought one MAF boot and replaced the old boot,
and now the engine light is gone.
Lesson learned: Catalytic converter is the last step if you ever get this
code. Some car repair guys can only read the code, but never think. Be
careful with them. |

发帖数: 4550 | 4 我之前也是0420，当时正好smog没过，就找了家修车铺，他们最初认定是oxygen
sensor，后来说是catalytic converter，结果俩都换了，smog还是没过，然后给我换
回来了，也没要我钱
但是换回以前的配件后，0420就没了。。。至今不知道是为啥 |

发帖数: 8858 | 5 可能是oxygen sensor接触不良吧 总之如果不是pre-cat oxygen sensor坏了 是根本不
会影响油耗的
这玩意恶心就恶心在年检上。。。

发帖数: 665 | 6 第一眼还以为这是我回的呢。。。跟我第一辆车很像。。。最后也没修好，一用cruise
ctl就报错。不用就没事。
后来遇到个明白师傅，说车是加州的，exhaust system 换了一个杂牌子的，尾气标准
不匹配。。。。anyway，最后也不知道到底为啥。。。

换回来了，依然过不了smog，我只好上以前州的牌照，心中的痛啊
