if u use facebook, follow/like this one "best buy auto leasing"... it is in
NJ, but ahywhere u should be able to get similar deal...

lease最后买下来当然要比直接贷款买最后花的钱更多了。dealer又不是傻子。。。
lease本质上就是买的时候就签好trade in合同,最后不用自己卖的麻烦。

1. Let me illustrate why the monthly payment is lower.
Let's say you bought 20k from a car, with a 10% annual rate for 5 yrs.
There are two schedules to do so.
a. (Equivalent to finance) You pay a set of money - $425 - to that dealer
and at the end of the term, you pay off and have the car, worth say $10000.
b. (Equivalent to lease) You pay a smaller monthly - $295 - to the dealer
and at the end of the term, you own about $10000 and you agree that you
would sell that car @ 10000 to the dealer.
You did pay $130 less each month, but you are not building your equity in
your purchase. How dealer will earn (more) money? (1) residual - say in
scenario a, your car has a perceived value of $12000, but the dealer will
only pay $10000; (2) rate/APR/money factor - say you could get 0% if you
finance, but you have to pay 10% for leasing; (3) lease-end charge - say if
the dealer say, you drive more miles/have dings here and there and I am
going to charge a fee, etc..
2. Lease payment is in two parts.
Lease payment = depreciation + financial charge.
Depreciation is because cars' price drops at the moment you drive off dealer
's parking lot and on the road. Financial charge is because you BORROW
money from the manufacture or a financial institute.
Depreciation = (Selling Price - Residual)/Term
Financial = (Selling Price + Residual) * Money Factor
Money factor *2400 = APR.
Let's use an example. MSRP is 60k, residual is 60% (36month, 12k/yr) @36k
and selling price is 54k, money factor is 0.002 (APR 4.8%), excluding ttl
and bank fees.
Depreciation = (54,000 - 36,000)/36 = 500
Financial = (54,000 + 36,000)*0.002 = 180
Monthly payment is 500+180 = 680.
3. How to get a lease deal?
If you decide that lease IS for you and let's omit the argument of leasing
vs. owing, remember, throw that idea of leasing out. Just focusing on the
selling price AS IF you were buying. After you bargain to the bottom of the
selling price, google residual and money factor from the manufacture and
ask the dealer their position (which should be no higher than that of the
manufacture). You may also want to shop around in banks (e.g., US Bank) who
take lease terms. This is to reduce bank fee and money factor. If you
have to borrow from the dealer, try lower the money factor using security
deposit, e.g., BMW allows upto 0.00049 money factor reduction if you put 7
refundable monthly payment upfront. There is also ownership/leasee
incentive to lower the money factor or waiving monthly payment. Do your
homework and google is your friends.
