今天去看了一个车，2003年 VW PASSAT glx 1.8t, 7.7k mileage. 要4000$ （kbb要价
格6000多点）, 车主是个黑人，说帮他姐姐卖车，third owner. clean title 是他姐
姐的。也不知道是不是在撒谎。。
有几个问题如下
问题1。03年的PASSAT的油耗高吗？新车大约在20 mpg，旧车没法想，烧机油的问题还
存在不？网上看，即使1.8t，有的车还会存在烧机油的问题。。
试车感觉车的发动机性能都没什么问题，exterior：前面hood的prop坏了（液压的得很
贵吧？简易的基本就20美元够了），前方保险杠下面的塑料碎了（这个估计得换个新的
），其他小的cosmetic问题
问题2 interior ：档位那个塑料壳碎了但不影响换档，关键问题是显示温度，档位的
仪表盘里的数据静止，不知道是彻底坏了，还是里面接触问题。如果换个新的话大约多
钱？
另外一辆车 5.7k mileage 要价6800。还没看车。。说是得下周1才可以，估计是小
dealer吧。。
请各位高手指点，非常感谢。。。
发现同学里很少有开德国车，如果维修费用，油耗实在太高，那就准备买别的车。。。
可能刚开始买车，比较纠结大众，因为国内开过好几款大众的，觉得很舒服。。 | f*u

if you want used passat, I would perfer a clean title, first owner with
full maintainence records.
I had 03 Passat 1.8t GLS myself bought it as brand new, I did all
maintenance by myself except oil change by dealer since oil change is only
about $50 per 5k miles and dealer will record the milelage in your VIN
history in oil change service, it builds car maintainence history.
The mainenance could be costy if by dealer; For example, dealer can charge $
1500 for timing belt, water pump change, you can DIY with $300 kit, but it's not easy
The proper maintainence is very important for Passat. The wrong engine oil
could sludge the engine, the low grade gas may result in carb deposit and
cause all kind of problems such as engine gasket leak, misfire etc.
Yeah, turbo engine will burn some oil, period, you may need to add some
engine oil between oil changes, but that's it, it's not big deal.
In term of MPG, my car is 20mpg 100% local, but as high as 36-37 mpg if 100%
highway.
There were a few problems in warranty but since I alwasy do prevention
maintenance for my Passat, no single problem out of warranty yet.
Passat is great car, a lot of fun to drive. But be careful if you buy used
one.
