发帖数: 317 | 6 Take BMW for example, A/C is designed on top of the tranfer case. As time
goes by, water condensation from A/C will drip down to the transfer case and
cause the corrosion on drive shaft spindle, which will lead to slippage.
Depending on water or oil, If dealer told you it's the transfer case leak,
then it should be oil leak (gear-oil: 75W90), and you can ask them to show
you (usually they don't). If you DO see oil on transfer case, then you can
go ahead and let them do it. If only water, don't bother.
Transfer case leak could be minor, or catastrophic, the worst scenario is
you have to change both drive axles, rebuild transfer-case and all the
associated labor cost.
