Same question. I know some guys/girls going to the States after finishing
the PhD. But they are all doing post-doc. Have you come across some
successful stories where people have found a industry job in the States with
an Australian phd? I know it's possible if you want to work in UK, but it's
likely a totally different story when it comes to compete with America-
trained phd graduates. Thanks a lot! | j******n

record
显然美国博士整体实力很强,澳大利亚的博士学位不能说很差,但无论学制还是学术环境
都有不小差距,加上其他因素,美国公司宁可优先考虑本土的
目前博士这个层面,在学术界,我观察我的领域内,流动比较普遍的是英澳加新(加坡)法
一组,德荷港台美一组,后一组是说美国博士去德荷港台的多,而不是相反方向,美国大学
里做发考题的非常罕见不是美国博士,而且必须是好大学,其他博士都去工业界了
如果说成功案例,有个Monash的EE的,博士期间IEEE Trans接近10篇,帮其导师申请ARC项
目2个,毕业就去美国一个公司的图象实验室,后来去松下,来澳大利亚读博士之前在国内
,新加坡和日本公司工作过,比较勤奋,我觉得没什么代表性

good job in Sydney in the future... hehe. But the competition is no less
fierce! The reason, evidently, is there are not that many openings around at
first place! The high value of Oz dollars are really doing no favour for
the local industry. Expect more and more work will be outsourced to India
and China.
P.S. I can't figure out why so many Aussie admire france to death. Guys from
3rd tier Uni in France can easily secu | j******n

Sydney
不太懂经济,但简单算算与自己密切相关的几个%数,就觉得不对劲
可能因为法国人和澳大利亚人都比较自由散漫?很多德国体系的人来澳大利亚后又回去
了,而英国来的都是年纪比较大的,年轻时在英美挣钱,老了来享受
现在美国的中国博士来澳大利亚找faculty或者post-doc,这个可能是你最担心的:)
