From 1 July 2001, the single student visa class will be broken down into seven separate visa subclasses to address the needs of each education sector. Individual criteria and visa conditions have been developed to allow for relevant variations between
education sectors.
Each subclass is based on the education sector of the principal course of
study.
The subclasses are:
Independent ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students)
sector (Subclass 570);
Schools sector (Subclass 57
