Swisher Hygiene Inc. (NASDAQ:SWSH) has opened a 54,000-square-foot
manufacturing and training center near Phoenix.
Charlotte-based Swisher, a provider of hygiene and sanitation products and
services for commercial environments, says the facility will "significantly
and efficiently expand its production and innovation capabilities" in
Arizona and the Southwest. It will manufacture liquid, solid and powder
chemicals as well as provide additional storage for finished goods, allowing
Swisher to improve delivery efficiency in the area, and serve as home to
Swisher’s regional parts and dish-machine distribution center.
The center also includes a laboratory and a training room, complete with a
fully operational dish room and restroom space for product demonstrations.
“We are enthusiastic about this new facility, which is a key part of our
plan to standardize and simplify our cost structure while allowing Swisher
to better serve our customers in the Southwest,” Blake Thompson, COO, says
in a news release. “The facility is a significant step-up in terms of
efficiency from our previous operations in the region, and with additional
space and modern manufacturing equipment in place, we expect to enhance our
overall production while improving our distribution capabilities to deliver
our products faster and more efficiently to our customers.”
Swisher, which also trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker
SWI, serves a variety of industries with emphasis on food service,
hospitality, retail and health care.
The company reported a $15.38 million loss in the second quarter on revenue
of $55.4 million, and it faces delisting from the NASDAQ exchange if it is
unable to raise its stock price above $1. Swisher's shares closed at 62
cents on Wednesday. |
