该学校投资70万美元给学生购买了1750台iPad。教师备课也是开始以iPad为中心，
同时选用其他的教育应用程序来辅助完成。学校认为从长远来看这样能减少开支。
当然学生是不允许给iPad安装一些和学校学习不适合的应用程序，学校还会给学生
提供iPad保护套来保护iPad。

MINNEOLA — When students at the new Lake Minneola High School in Lake
County return to classes in a few weeks, they'll have access to more than
half a million dollars worth of new iPads that they'll use at school and at
home.
Lake Minneola will be is the first public school in Central Florida to buy
the devices for every student as part of a state pilot program to save on
textbooks and offer a new dimension in learning for students.
"Students learn differently now because of the technology," said Kathy
Halbig, innovative learning manager for the Lake school district who is
overseeing the project. "Students are used to having multiple sources and
being able to have more social collaboration in their learning process
rather than just doing it sitting quietly and reading."
Schools across the state are using more electronic tablets in math
classrooms, science labs and for administrative tasks, but only a handful
are making a school-wide push.
Lake Wales High School, a Polk County charter school, is the only other area
school to announce an iPad program for all of its students. It used an
anonymous donation to pay for the devices.
Other private schools, such as the Master's Academy in Oviedo and the Jewish
Academy of Orlando, are doing the same.
At the state level, public schools are encouraged to push more digital
content because districts must adopt completely digital instructional
materials by 2015. This fall the state will begin monitoring schools like
Lake Minneola, which will help other public schools in making the digital
transition.
"They are great ways for us to learn about this transition so that by (
school year 2015-2016) all of us will be better prepared," said Mary Jane
Tappen, deputy chancellor for curriculum, instruction and student services
at the Florida Department of Education. "Because of this district pilot we'
ll be able to collect that information in a more organized fashion."
The pilot program eases state funding restrictions and allows a school to
use at least half of its traditional textbook fund to pay for new electronic
or digital materials. Schools must report the costs and savings associated
with the program and within a year explain how it improved student learning.
At Lake Minneola High School, administrators used capital funding to pay for
1,750 iPads, which cost about $700,000.
Teachers, who already have begun planning lessons using the gadgets, choose
educational apps and will use the iPads to give quizzes and get instant
feedback. Halbig believes the iPads will save the school from purchasing
other pricey teaching technology such as wireless slates or computers.
"Rather than have a child have five tools on his or her desk they've got one
tool that will function as the textbook, the Slate, the Internet access,
note taker, calendar," she said.
About a week before school, students will be issued the iPads loaded with
all of their classroom textbooks. But the devices will offer students many
more options as well.
They'll be able to highlight text, search the Internet, type papers – and
view tutorial and other learning videos.
The iPads will be locked so students won't be able to install their own apps
and the devices will be wrapped in a rugged case to protect against
breakage, but the district is still figuring how to insure the devices. | a****a

因，我父亲视力就很好。而且我的同学中，从小学开始，不戴眼镜的始终不戴。
我当年最被人夸的就是念完博士，不带眼镜，没有一根白头发。
不过，我今年已经戴老花镜了...人的一生，眼镜是逃不掉的。 | x******a
