I guess it is Yes. It is said there is some authentic chip inside each
Apple its own cable. Otherwise, it is hard to justify the price. But you
may be able to buy an Apple cable from Craigslist for $10 ~ $15 each.
I bought one third party cable and tried resupport on Touch 4. It doesn't
work.
