Google spent millions lobbying Washington last year -- more than Apple,
Yahoo and Facebook combined.
Google's no angel
Briefly, I cannot believe that one of the world's biggest corporations is as
pure as its public image suggests. I don't even believe that of Apple, and
I'm an Apple-holic. Why would I -- or anyone -- believe that any corporation
is inherently "good"?
Some may recall Consumer Reports. That title launched a tirade of terrible
publicity over the 'antenna-gate' iPhone scandal. Yet another scandal
involving Google has hardly caused a dent in the distortion field
surrounding the search giant.
"In Google's world, you only get the 'truth' Google wants to give you, when
and how and where Google wants to give it to you. Transparency applies to
everyone else," said John M. Simpson, director of (some say Microsoft-funded
) Consumer Watchdog's Inside Google project. He wants Google to freely
publish some of the information it has spent millions lobbying for on
Capitol Hill. Google seems less keen.
Google Android is reality distortion. I know this isn't a popular opinion,
though I fail to see why an opinion needs to be popular to be held. What do
you think? I'd once again like to invite you to follow me on Twitter so I
can let you know when these items are published here first on Computerworld.

the lobby money.
but it's just the nature of its business. it's so big and relies on internet
so much, so it's natural for it to spend more money on lobbying, just like
oil and arm companies.
yahoo is dying, facebook is still small, and apple only needs to suck
manufacturer's blood without triggering too much social attention. i guess
that taiwaness took much of the harsh criticism.

| t****d 发帖数: 488 | 9 one thing strange is that could you give me a reason why they need to lobby
that much? Anyone is lobbying the "internet in-neutralization" or any
company lobbying to push google out of US?
Most lobbying work is to make sure they get the most profit, for the
lobbying party, that means sometimes (note, sometimes, not always) it can
hurt the public party, which is considered as evil. When google spending so
much money, there is a good chance evil thing is happening. Well, I believe
all of the companies are doing the same work, if they have the chance and
money. Apple is not doing any better than google, and maybe even worse. | w********1 发帖数: 3492 | 10 I think google is turning a bit evil these days.
