The iMac comes with 2 Mbytes of video memory called SGRAM (Synchronous
Graphics RAM) on its logic board. That's enough to let you run its display
with up to 24-bit color ("millions of colors") at resolutions of 640 by 480
pixels or 800 by 600 pixels. It handles up to 16-bit color ("thousands of
