it's likely that congress will have a hearing on March 12th on SEC's
principal account and FASB to see whether it's possible to relax the mark to
market rules for the next 12 to 18 months to avoid forcing the banks (and
including insurance companies) to write down their assets with currently
very low market prices, even when the banks do not need to sell them (at
least not all of them) for quite some time?
any possibility that the relaxing request will get approve??

was THE ONE that enabled Enron to pernatrate fraud. If it get approved this
time, then it means US government is going to pernatrate fraud as a nation
against whoever buys US bonds. It will be very scary. End of the world? |
y****o 发帖数: 162 | 3 Sorry, misunderstood it. but loosen up the regulation is just trying to pump
up the baloon a little, can not do any good in the long run. This is just a
sign that the the government is running out of ideas of saving the market.
now they are just trying to make it look good on the books. what good can it
make? YING ZHENG ZHI KE. |

temporary relaxing of the rules is good enough for now, for the market. the
asset price of on the market is fire sale price anyway, which is not fair
for the companies holding them. |
y****o 发帖数: 162 | 5 what is the purpuse to keep the assets float? the value of assets is just a
factor to evaluate the free cash flow to the parties concerned. the books of
assets are marked up, which can bring real cash flow? PLease explain more
