, where two of the whales stranded themselves.
The two spade-toothed beaked whales, a mother and calf, stranded and died on
Opape Beach on the North Island of New Zealand, in December 2010. The
mother was 17 feet (5.3 meters) long and the calf was 11 feet (3.5 m) long.
A report describing the whales and the analysis of their DNA appears in the
Nov. 6 issue of the journal Current Biology.

一个月前就说要讲故事，终于有时间了。
这个故事是发生在南太平洋一个小岛上，是关于人类如何跟killer whale合作的。
记载这个故事的，是现在定居在那里的白人。但是类似的故事应该已经在小岛上发生过
数百年了，以至于岛上的土著已经把这一切当成神奇的风俗代代传诵，并且教授给当初
移居到这里的白人。
这个小岛上的人，大多捕鱼为生。岛上有一个半月形的海湾，就是神奇的故事屡屡发生
的地点。那是一个天然良港，环抱的山脊可以挡住外海的风浪。很多村民的住宅都在这个
海湾的岸上。每次，当那里的人们从窗口看到有成群的killer whale游进海湾，就知道
令人兴奋的事情到来了。
killer whale不会平白无故要绕到这个海湾里面的，它们必定都是驱赶着一头硕大的

周末看了Noah Baumbach的作品The Squid and the Whale，这个片子是2005年非常热的
一个indie film，赢得了不少奖项。比较短的一个片子，拍得非常紧凑，有点意思（微
量剧透）。
这的片子有很浓的自传色彩。背景是80年代中期的Brooklyn。一对已经年过中年的夫妻
，同是作家，丈夫年少成名，但已经很多年没有新的作品，妻子在丈夫的帮助下开始写
作，成就却越来越高。事业上的分道扬镳可能是最初的起因，但生活中的矛盾也不少，
导致两人最后平静的分手。他们有两个儿子，上高中的大儿子崇拜父亲，觉得离婚都是
母亲的错，二儿子却和妈妈更亲近一些。父母的离异对两个孩子造成了极大的冲击，先

那一年夏天快结束的时候，我认识了这两个生日只差一天的金牛座女生。从此，我的生
活便少了一些孤单，多了很多的内容和回忆。
最先认识的是whale。记得那天下午，我去whale的单元领邮票。zhuzhu坐在厅堂的桌子
前面，找出了写了我名字的大信封，"fancy，你的邮票。"我接过信封正要转身离开，
就看见一个女生急匆匆的从边上的房间跑出来，很激动地大叫道，"fancy....fancy来
啦....fancy在哪？"我傻傻的看着面前这个突然出现的女生，完全不知道当时是怎么一
回事。zhuzhu见状便介绍了一下我们两个。然后，我便听见whale便很兴奋的说，“原
来你就是fancy啊。fancy姐姐，真是久仰大名了。”我当时心里一愣，这个久仰大名的
话似乎是我说给她的才对吧。谁不知道bbs上大名鼎鼎的whaleeyes呀，只是，我还真没
想过那个在版面上积极灌水极富号召力的人会是面前这个大剌剌的女生。尤其是这个大
剌剌的女生，还会用一种甜甜的极其温柔的语气称我为fancy姐姐。姐姐这个称呼，我
可是十几年都没有听过了。突然间有人这样叫我，我还真有种背脊发凉的感觉。

took a boat trip of Virginia Aquarium and saw at least 10 different whales.
They migrate in ocean and pass by here. So they may be gone anytime. |
