跟这帮自称理科的文科生物wsn实在纠缠不清楚。给丫们上点洋大人自己的说法吧，而
且都是学术圈的，已有reference一堆，其中一份是著名的兰德公司的报告。
另外，美国和澳洲已立法限制使用脑波扫描仪，拿脑波扫描仪扫本国公民已是联邦法的

找刁钻办法证一个 weak 但看着高大上的数学定理证明题，其实我觉得跟中小学数学教
育的初衷是背道而驰的。
我这么说，并不是空穴来风。。。绝大部分人中学毕业以后，不会去纯数学专业。。。
也就是这种高大上样子的定理（weak 不 weak 先不说），全美每年只要数学竞赛
USAMO National Top 500 个人头的足够了，或者我们把炮灰也算上，那 2000 个总绰
绰有余了。。。剩下的我等屌丝们，这种数学大定理屁用都没有。。。而 AIME 找丢手
绢题目的做派，讲真。。。不要说马工 debug 本质上就是找前面那个沙比把手绢丢在

先简单介绍下自己，国内硕士在读，明年毕业，没有牛 paper，也没参加过 ACM-ICPC
竞赛。在实验室做过内核、虚拟机和 Android 底层相关的研究工作，接过一些网页和
移动开发的外包，2011 年开始在字节社兼职负责后台开发。另外也经常上
Stackoverflow 和 GitHub。
这次决定直接申请美国的职位后，由于心里没底，不知道国外公司招聘的难度，所以一
开始投了很多公司。几个大公司都找人内推或者直接投了，小公司也投了不少，比如
Foursquare、Path、Pinterest 和 Square 等都试了。当时甚至在手机上找了一圈应用
，把可能涉及后端开发的应用都投了一遍。不过大多数公司都没给我安排面试，只有
Microsoft、Google、Facebook、Twitter 和 Hulu 这五家公司愿意给我面试机会。

学校面试，是我的第八次，也基本上是最后一次机会了。面试的流程包括和
dean,chair谈话，参观校园，talk,和search committee members座谈，午餐。我的
talk做得比较好，和dean,chair谈话比较轻松，但是和search committee members座谈
的时候，有个外系的人也是members之一，很tough,总是问一些很难的问题，而且每次
我回答之后都看见他在纸上一阵狂写。比如，他问：假如你和系里的某个老师发生冲突
，你如何处理？我说我和大家关系都很好，不会发生。他说：你没有回答我的问题，然
后马上在纸上写一些什么，弄的我很紧张。我只好重新回答。他又问：作为一个老师，
你的weakness是什么？我回答说自己花在工作的时间太多，太勤奋，以至于LD不高兴了
。他马上问：你觉得勤奋是weakness吗？我只好说了自己真正的weakness。他一直很严

Reviewer 2，分数从1到3，给了三个weakness，都是关于所有secondary data 细节的
，甚至连某个variable的多少比例的missing data都问到了。现在的问题是这个数据不
是free的，我现在也没有拿到具体的数据。这个数据的大概介绍，比如有那些variable
是知道，但是variabile的细节就不清楚了。数据provider还是多个，各家情况还不大
一样。
Review 3， weakness都是minor的，比较容易解释清楚。
像请各位指教怎么跟PO联系解释这个？

ojbective的标准衡量?
我有一次和博士老板(德高望重大牛)谈proposal idea. 他说research 方向不可行,这
个方向拿不到funding. 我问具体有什么weaknesses. 他说了几个原因. 我回去后和Co-
PI商量保持原来方向,但是优化approaches来解决weaknesses. 后来拿了a big grant.
我觉得别抛弃以前成果.看看weaknesses在哪里,要不要调整方向方法,如何做好下一步
research.你老板可能说话不太encouraging. 但是你可以看看他的意见有没有什么可以
用来improve your research.
不过我不是做theory的. 可能我经验可能不适用于你. |

is the lack of public speaking skills.

Google 面试也是托学长推荐了。HR 说我的简历看起来很不错，先给我安排了两轮电面。
电面都和 coding 有关，面试官会给你一个 Google Docs 链接，在电话里描述题目后
要求你在 Google Docs 上写程序。题目的难度不高，两轮一共四题，都是对基本数据
结构的操作，例如给在一个未排序的数组中去掉重复的数字，还有把一个有序数组转成
一个平衡二叉搜索树，在一个已排序但有重复数字的数组中查找元素等。
第一轮电面聊天的时候还发现第一轮的面试官是在 ITA Software 做的。正好前几天用

先简单介绍下自己，国内硕士在读，明年毕业，没有牛 paper，也没参加过 ACM-ICPC
竞赛。在实验室做过内核、虚拟机和 Android 底层相关的研究工作，接过一些网页和
移动开发的外包，2011 年开始在字节社兼职负责后台开发。另外也经常上
Stackoverflow 和 GitHub。
这次决定直接申请美国的职位后，由于心里没底，不知道国外公司招聘的难度，所以一
开始投了很多公司。几个大公司都找人内推或者直接投了，小公司也投了不少，比如
Foursquare、Path、Pinterest 和 Square 等都试了。当时甚至在手机上找了一圈应用
，把可能涉及后端开发的应用都投了一遍。不过大多数公司都没给我安排面试，最后

1. depending on your level, you can name a weakness that most of the people
with your experience don't have. For example, if you are a new grad, say
your weakness your leadership skill needs to be improved. Its a real
weakness, but it shows that you are thinking more than just what they
interview for. |

发帖数: 330 | 42 其实g还好阿，没有怎么考cultural fit的问题（除非你讨论问题表现比较奇怪）。其
他公司很多拿cultural fit理由拒人的。面startup你就除了cultural fit还要表现出
热情之类的，比g麻烦多了。
我理解是g如果你想拿offer需要impress至少一个面试官，有一个strong accept一个
weak reject比全是weak accept好很多（应该全是weak accept = 没有offer）
然后就是上面别人说的了，你自以为答出来不代表你的答案是面试官期望的解，可以回
来再研究下相关题目。 |

1）Weak execution 是和谁比？能不能举一个或几个strong in execution的公司的例
子？
2）为什么Pinterest's execution is weak？你们觉得通过哪些指标可以判断weak or
not?
当然，绝对无意说这样的评论不对或者不好，我个人也觉得Pinterest还可以move的更
快一些。只是我只是想尽我所能提供点有价值的信息。但你们这样简单一言，我也没法

But you seems to suggest that if a person can't be strong (whatever you mean by it), then it fair game for him/her to get bullied, discriminated.
In your post, you clearly said that you despise "weak" persons. What is your definition of "weak"? Why do you feel it's necessary to despise someone who didn't do anything to harm you or even bother you? The person you judge weak may not be able to defend him/herself against bullies... 阅读全帖 |

发帖数: 10908 | 49 另外要注意的是，chess 可以考虑跟 weak AI 玩（AI 的 level 可以设成最最 weak）
，可以考虑父母给 guidance，也可以考虑送程度合适的 chess 班（当然大部分班要求
学龄娃，还叼着安慰奶嘴的娃就别参合了）。
但咋都不能指望只要扔娃一副棋盘棋子，娃就能自己琢磨出来。更不能让娃老是跟傻子
玩 chess，否则保不准越玩越傻，越傻越玩。（政治是不是正确另说，但实践上成事不
足败事有余的傻子，真还不如老老实实一根筋的 weak AI，是铁板钉钉的真理）。
其实 Zone of Proximal Development 理论还是有一定道理的。
