You are right on this sense. But talking about spectrum
you are wrong.
Yes we don't loss any wavelength component of the light
in the pulse, but spectrum of wave is a concept of the
shape of the wave, not exactly the wavelength inside it.

These are two different concepts.
The wavelength components combination is not the same as spectrum. Just thin
king of the pulse sent by the Tx, it
also contains all the wavelengths, but the pulse shape
is more rectangular.

Of course dispersion will affect a 30 nm bandwidth pulse in 4 m of fiber,
especially if the center wavelength is not 1310 nm or it's specified
zero-dispersion wavelength. 30 nm is very wide bandwidth for most
applications. Let's say dispersion 5 ps/nm/km, then for 4 m and 30 nm, it
is almost 0.6 ps. The bandwidth is narrowed to almost 6 nm.
On the other hand, it's very rare that a fiber can't support 30 nm
bandwidth.

hehe, you read book too much. The light from candle and the spectra of
the candle still follows the Fourier transform. The light from candle
can be approximated as a white noise-type random process due to the
central-limit theorem (many sources are emitting independently). The
Fourier transform of the white noise is of course wide-band in the
frequency domain.
I am confused why people here got so confused about the "wavelength" and
"spectrum". Wavelength is just the x-axis of spectrum. That's

i don't agree with the last couple of paragraphs
If all the wavelengths are in phase, it is the fourier transform limited
pulse.

If they are not in phase, say due to dispersion, the above equation is not
valid any more. In a fiber, if there is no absorption and no nonlinear
effect, all the wavelength components should be preserved and no new one

You were saying if the density is higher, the higher states in the
conduction band would be occupied. That would result in a higher frequency
or a lower wavelength.
From my measurement, compared to the lasing spectrum between the middle
contact and the contact 3, the lasing wavelength from the contact 3 (1574nm)
is larger than that of the middle contact (1560nm) meanwhile the current
density of the contact 3 is higher than that of the middle contact. But this
is contrary to what you are talking

When I am injecting current to the InP lasers, I am always using a thermal-
electric cooler (TEC) control, and the setting point of temperature is 20C.
So you are saying the 14nm wavelength shift corresponds 30-40C temperature
change. But because of the TEC, I don't think so the laser device could have
so high temperature change.
I talked to my boss, and he is thinking the larger wavelength shift could be
due to the refractive index change with the increasing of injection current

If you increase temperature of TEC from 20C to 40C and meanwhile only add
bias on middle contact, I would expect the following:
1. Higher threshold current.
2. Lasing wavelength red shift 5~10nm.
3. The relative change of lasing wavelength from different bias schemes won'
t change much.

Have you try to control temperature of the laser to achieve the right
wavelength?
TEC and control chips are available.
If you need better accuracy, make a wavelength locker.

You need to reason with numbers. The electron mass is 0.511Mev, and if you put it into the relativistic mass formula, E=mc^2=sqrt(m0^2*c^4+p^2*c^2), you can see the energy is really high with E=0.1Gev. If you consider the de-Broglie wavelength, it is h/p, you can also see it is much smaller than the charateristic wavelength of electrons. The key is to compare with the relativistic mass formula.

I take it that flux is the number of photons per unit time. (some people use
dkifferent definitions). if the photns are single wavelength, then power
divided by (h time frequency) is the flux. if photons are multiwavelengths,
then you need to know spectrum, it is more complicated, you probably need
measure power for each narrow wavelength window

The angular resolution of Hubble Telescope is not enough to detect such a
small targert at a distance of about 384,000 Km.
The aperture diameter of Hubble is just 2.4 m. Therefore, the angular
resolution for wavelength 500nm should be > 0.25 microRAD. And
because of the wrong manufacturing of the primary mirror, the angular
resultion of HUbble is > the resolution limit even the corrective
contact lens was added into the system.

Just read how Russia built second pipeline to China and no longer using
dollars , but petro yuans and rubles. We can no longer simply use threat of
sanctions and tariffs. We can negotiate but must treat our peers, even those
who see the world differently, as participants or we will fail.

300km/2 = 150km. assuming wavelength = 1um, then beam radius at waist (w0)
is about 0.2-0.3 m. So at target, the beam radius cannot be larger than 0.5

I'm not 100% sure but 90% sure. this kind of thing usually does "push broom
" scanning. each scan line is usually perpendicular to the orbital
direction. each scan line is spread in the orbital direction and projected
to to a 2-D sensor array. It does not make sense to have only a few
wavelengths because there is already a 2-D sensor array.

算了,今天耐心不太好,花时间研究了提议也没什么人捧场。
如果要去掉vibration,网上推荐和卖的那些damper都不太实际。因为既要考虑到管子
的散热,又要隔音。这在物理上是非常难做到的,声音和热在固体中都是phonon传播的
,热的传导涵盖了short to long wavelength。用简单设计做一个既隔音又导热的
filter不是很容易。那些正在卖的和网上说有用的硅胶和海绵之类的,基本都是玩闹,
要不让散热更差,要不根本就是transparent to vibration。很多的震动都是通过PCB和
管座传入的。
又是我的愚见,别认真。

整天闹"辐射"的同学讲的"辐射", 当然不是微波自己跑出
微波炉, 而是微波炉工作时的电磁波. 这个当然可以测.
