共识以后就没得讨论了。:)
还是说点儿轻松的吧,昨晚读了Kurt Vonnegut的Timequake,老
人家在七十多岁写的后现代体半自传小说,内容简介上说这个故事讲的是2001年某日
,时间突然回到了十年前,人类只好被迫再重新活过这十年,有意识却没有free w
ill,就跟演戏一样。
这个玄乎的主旋律里面,其实穿插了Vonnegut回顾一生的片断,有些逸事也有些
箴言哲学,还有黄色笑话!
喜欢正经文学的读者肯定会大受打击,他的文风简直是对“意识流”和“后现代体”的一
种侮辱。:)口语化文字贯穿全篇,倒像是个精神很好的老头子兴致勃勃地抓住读者,想
起什么以前遇到过的趣事名人就吹一通牛。可是我喜欢他笑呵呵的声音和幽默感,写自传
的作者有点儿幽默感真是很重要的事情,把自传写成意识流体裁的科幻小说,是件挺不容
易的事情。
Vonnegut自己还是个画家,风格大概是漫画形式的米罗和毕加索,在他的网站(
http://www.vonnegut.com/ )上有些收藏,在Timequake里面说他的哥哥(是

laughed through all his books I've ever read.
Sometimes you feel not like reading a novel,
but listening to him by his side,
all those weird and funny imaginations throughout the books...
"Breakfast of Champions" really stands out on this point.
Remember one of his jokes in this book, about chicken soup... aha...
But my favorite is always "Cat's Cradle",
maybe since it's his first book that I read...

从小到大,总是东游西逛的,对于机场,对于别离,似乎也是平常得不能再平常的
事,反倒是那些送行的,每每放不下,若非再三叮嘱要保重保重,就是狠狠一吻再揉揉
头发,相比之下,自己转身时的满面笑容,竟是大大地不应该了。

跑题跑得严重,才好恬不知耻地绕回来,才好显得一切都理所当然,而非是能力不

喜欢看序,但是会做序的要做到叫看书的不喜欢看序,叫他愈看愈急着要看正文,叫他
看序没有看到家,就跳过了看底下,这才算做序做得到家。我 既然拿这个当作做序的
标准,就得要说些不应该说的话,使人见了这序,觉得他非但没有做,存在,或看的必

这几年回国同我的中学同学来往比较多。一是我大学的同学和以后的同事都没有在我家
乡工作,回去想找朋友玩只有找中学同学了。我的许多中学同学同我一起上了12年的学
,甚至同我一起下过乡。无论是男同学,还是女同学,老感情还是有的。二是我的石河
子同学特别热情。这里也带一点个人地域偏见看问题了:俺们新疆人比较实诚,石河子
的人就更不用说了。一方山水养一方人,俺们那疙瘩的人好交往,比较实在,打交道不
用动什么脑子。第三,我们石河子一中七六级的同学们成立了一个同学会,大家还常在
一起凑一凑,特别是在办红白喜丧事的时候。喜事已经轮到我们的下一代了,我们这一
辈的只能是二婚、三婚(福气?)的同学。这几年大家已给好几个同学办了丧事,大都
是男同学,而且都同喝酒有关联。再就是我们这些远离家乡的同学回来的时候,大家美
言道我们的回来给大家的相聚创造了个机会。
我们这一批同学在外地(外省和外国)的比例不高,大约只有百分之一、二十,一般都

跟你说说我为什么要生这个闲气。现在无论多么落后的国家地区,包括非洲中东,都在
encourage女性出来工作受教育,尤其是理工类。偏偏我们文明古国的有些同胞,经常
要举些例子来discourage自己的女同胞的事业心。“你想争食儿是吧?也行,后果就是
没了老公也生不出孩子。”
你觉得我在网上争这些无聊吗?你认为无聊的话,大可娶一个不说话的老婆,这是你的
权利。我作为一个业余作家,一个非常有幸能够接受了高等教育的女性,说话不单是我
的权利,还是我的义务。我不替女同胞说话,指望你给说吗?一个人受了教育之后,只
是独善其身,自己活好了就完了,不管同类如何,那这个人的书都白读了。

对Arthur Hailey的书我也印象很深,《大饭店》里有个运气很好的小偷,很可爱。同
一时期我还看过一些Dick Francis 的‘通俗’小说,专门说赛马界里各色人物。前一
阵版上在讨论的John le Carre 的间谍小说耐人寻味。扯远些的话《Memoirs of a
Geisha》也算内幕?不过其实要主要想看内幕还是纪实文好,比如 Tracy Kidder的《
Soul of a New Machine》,版上bos推崇的John McPhee.
Saul Bellow 那辈里 Kurt Vonnegut的 《Slaughterhouse-Five》是绝对可以试试的。

Yeah he does remind me of Wang Xiaobo very much,
esp. the way he narrates, the way he describe things,
like everything is a joke that you shouldn't care,
that makes you so sad while laughing.
He's categoried into Sci-fi writer,
which doesn't really reflect the uniqueness of his writing.
IMHO, his sci-fi settings are just for the expression of his attitude,
and they are not very solid any |
