the main limitation for BEV is charging. if you can recharge as fast/
convenient as a PHEV, I don't mind driving a 150 AER BEV.
on the other hand, a 50 miles AER PHEV really means a pure battery car for
most people in most occasions (if you have to put a number, 98% of the trips
in the US are shorter than 50 miles). the extender permits quick refill and
enable the rest 2% of the trips.

charging cord will trigger an alarm. |

if Volt2 sells really well, it will still take 3-4 years for GM to sell
200k units (volt1 has used 73k). that will be 4-5 years adding the
phasing-out period. by that time, I can't predict how much the gas
will cost :)
also, when the tax incentive is used up, I am sure MSRP will drop
considerably.
16000 sales tax?
I don't know Fiat 500e, but many EVs matches the higher trims of the ICE
versions. you can't compare against the base base models. |

if not needing an larger vehicle (i.e. suv), I would get a volt2 without a
second thought. love my volt'14. The only minor thing I complain is the
accuracy of the voice recognition feature.
Once owning an EV, you would never consider a gas-guzzler. EVs are so much
better. |
